The European Month of Photography Berlin is the largest photo festival in Germany and takes place in Berlin every two years. Presenting exhibitions and events on historical and contemporary photography, this year’s theme is The View of The Other. This year sees 100 locations, 500 photographers and 10,000 pictures in the creative city of Berlin. In addition to this, the festival will also feature several workshops, lectures, tours, talks and competitions.

A major festival highlight is the Dennis Hopper retrospective at Martin-Gropius-Bau. This exhibition will show rediscovered works from the 1960s, never before shown in Europe. Hopper photographed stars such as Tina and Ike Turner, Andy Warhol, Paul Newman and Jane Fonda, as well as of Martin Luther King during the civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.

European Month of Photography (EMoP) takes place across the following 6 other cities: Paris, Vienna, Budapest, Ljubliana, Luxemburg and Bratislava. distURBANces is the title of the joint exhibition across these EMoP partner cities.
