Project description
The Glue Factory is delighted to announce an open call for exhibition and event proposals for our2011/2012 programme.

The Glue Factory is an independent arts venue situated in the Spiers Locks area of Glasgow and run by a committee of 7 volunteers. Our building is a cavernous industrial warehouse containing a sprawling and diverse collection of spaces. From white walled galleries to decommissioned glue vats the building has a rich history and raw beauty that make it an exciting and challenging venue for bold and ambitious projects!

Outline of programme:

The Glue Factory programme will be structured around a series of festival weekends which include the opening of exhibitions. We want to hear from curators, artists, film makers, performers, designers, musicians, galleries, collectives, promoters and anyone with creative ideas for the space.

Our core aims are:

• To curate large scale events which bring creative practitioners together over the course of a weekend festival to create a one-off collaborative experience.
• To encourage proposals that take advantage of the building’s unique architecture and allow audiences to experience the building in new and exciting ways.
• To promote an experimental attitude towards exhibition and event formats.
• To program creative and educational workshops, talks and events that complement our exhibition programme.
• To deliver a high quality programme that is consistently varied and engages a wide spectrum of audiences.
• To support emerging talent from the local area and beyond as well as providing space for more established artists and organizations.

Finances, support and promotion:

The Glue Factory will provide production and promotion budgets where possible – primarily for exhibitions and events that will not charge for attendance. We can provide on-site production space and facilities for the build, planning and fabrication of work prior to the event/exhibition and will offer technical advice and assistance where necessary to realise your project. The Glue Factory Committee will organise in house promotion for the weekend festivals and support contributors through distributing listings, posters, flyers, website information, social media content, mailing lists etc.

Deadline
The first festival weekend will be on the 28th – 30th October. The deadline for submissions for this event is the 1st October. Deadlines for subsequent events will be anounced closer to the time.
