The exhibition showcases the work of young designers at the beginning of their careers offering the opportunity to interact and engage with the public, whilst using this platform as a test-bed for ideas, designs and innovations. Recent alumni have included Giles Miller, Asif Khan and Bethan Laura Wood.

OPEN CALL FOR ENTRIES
The brief for Designers in Residence 2012 has been set by Deyan Sudjic, Director of the Design Museum:

THRIFT
‘It is more difficult to design a product worth £10 than it is to design the same product worth £1000. The limitations of economy require resourceful, inspired and intelligent use of material and processes and a successful project is often a more creative and fully resolved outcome.
We invite product, furniture, graphic, spatial or interaction designers to explore the idea of economy and resourcefulness in an object, an environment or an experience for their Designers in Residence 2012 proposal.’

Go here to download the submission form and find out how to enter.

The deadline for entries is 5pm on Monday 20 February 2012.
