Aberdeen Humming Booth

Aberdeen Humming, created by Suk-Jun Kim and supported by sound and Seventeen, Aberdeen’s creative hub, is an audiovisual public installation that brings out the sense of place and of community through humming.

Humming is such a personal and intimate action, offering up your hums to others is in a sense very liberating. You can listen to some recorded hums using an interactive “cassette tape” online here.

humming booth is part of Aberdeen Humming. In the booth, visitors to Seventeen are asked to hum a song that would remind them of their childhood. The hums taken at the booth will be collated and used for Aberdeen Humming in a final sound installation, which is projected to be installed at Seventeen in November.

The humming booth will be on display until 18 August at Seventeen, Aberdeen.
