Art on Your Streets is a public art mapping blog by curator Catriona Black-Dinham. It features artworks found on display in public spaces over a number of different cities, illustrating the unique character and dynamic nature of each location.

Catriona provides a useful resource to those seeking hidden gems and well known works. A good example of this is her familiar stomping ground in Edinburgh. Want to take in all of the Antony Gormley series 6 Times? The blog shows all six, including the striking cast Number VI standing at the end of an abandoned pier in Leith.

Among the more mainstream or historically significant pieces on the well-tread tourist trail, the collection highlights hidden and temporary works that could easily go unnoticed. Temporary sculptures The Leaf People, situated near Deanhaugh, have been appearing for years now and are there to be appreciated by local passers-by.

Find locations of the Shutter Project, like this one by Fraser Grey, giving a new lease of life to the shop fronts after hours.

Art on Your Streets reflects on each city having an aesthetic and gives the reader the insight and tools to explore what each city has to offer. Check the site for all locations including Glasgow, Amsterdam and Singapore.

A bit like a mix-tape but with blogs instead

Back in 2010, we declared February “Sound Month” and focused on all things audio on the site. It was the initial stages of the Sound:Image:Art project, and our art-rocker short, Art/Roc/Doc, was about to premiere at the Glasgow Short Film Festival.

To add something special, each day in February 2010 there was a blog from selected members that explored a different aspect of where sound, music and creativity meet. The end result was a series of discourse by various different artists who use and/or appreciate sound & audio in different ways.

The organiser of the series, Emlyn Firth, compiled a daily list linking to each blog so that you could catch up on what they may have missed. To say thank you again to everyone to participated, and to give anyone who missed it a chance to comment and discuss, we thought we’d give it another spin.

And so we give you, Mix-Blog [Intro]. Enjoy.

You can also see each Mix-Blog listed here.

Got a blog about sound/audio/music that you want to tell us about? Feel Free to add a note & link in the comments below.

—

Like a classic film or piece of art, one viewing just isn’t enough. Encore is about revisiting much loved creative blogs that are definitely worth a second look.

Reviews & news as it happened at Dundee Popup

Dundee Pop up has started, we’re all here, lots of members, artists, designers, illustrators, film-makers are all here and we are starting our tour of the city’s creative spaces.

It’s already looking like a great day and a great turnout of people, but don’t fret if you can’t be here. Along with some of Censta’s members we’ll be blogging and tweeting the day. Watch out for blogs in the Dundee Popup group, follow @censta for tweets, tagged #dundeepopup and there will be photos uploaded by Ross_McLean all through the day and footage coming from Andy later in the week.

Posters by Superfly have been spotted all round the city, and the LTD edition booklets by SooperDD and Johanna Basford are already a coveted item.

The blogs as they come in…… and the tweets for the day.

Our very own Suzy Glass gives her view of the Dalziel & Scullion studio tour.

Ever been inside the coveted doors of Realtime Worlds? Jon Carlos went along, what did he see?

Censta and members got a very special sneak preview of the soon to be re-opened and very much renovated McManus Gallery. Gillian Easson gives you an idea of what’s in store.

Heidi Proven disappeared into the Visual Research Centre at Dundee Contemporary Arts, and thinks you should too.

Martin Boyce took members round his No Reflections instillation at the DCA, and explained the challenges of exhibiting the work in two different spaces. Here and at Venice Biennalle.
