Movies in Color is a Los Angles based blog which features film stills and their colour palettes. Brainchild of graphic designer Roxy Radulescu, the site was inspired by the colours in Bond film, Skyfall. As the blog continues to develop, her goal is for it to function as a learning tool and a form of inspiration.

“The blog has not only been an aesthetic pursuit but also an educational pursuit that showcases the relationship between color, cinematography, set design, and production design. Overall, it is a study of color in films, but has other uses and applications. One of the goals is to give artists color palettes they can use in paintings, films, videos, graphic design, and other pursuits.”

They Magazine is a dialogue between literature and art. Each issue has a unique design and features stories from different authors centered around one unifying thought. We have recently released our fourth issue, The Los Angeles Catalogue, which features short stories from Jason Parham, Jenn Frank, and Cian O’Day.

They is located in Los Angeles and was founded by designer Marshall Rake and myself, Azita Rasoli and started in 2010 as a side project.  As it progressed we started getting a little more serious about our content and began involving other people to contribute short stories. We’re always collaborating and really appreciate everyone involved in making this zine so fun to work on!

Michelle Alexis Newman is a photographer and mixed media artist based in Los Angeles.

A combination of blog and portfolio, Michelle’s site is a comprehensive showcase of where to find her online as well as giving you a glimpse into her style. There a links to a few of her projects, such as photographic series The North wind blew South (see example above) and Screams (which need little explanation once you’ve browsed the images). We particularly liked Michelle’s ‘Open Mic‘ portraits of comedians and their best/worst joke (see below).
