The Opera Machine is a multi-camera backstage view into the inner workings of the Royal Opera House. Created as part of Deloitte Ignite 2013 and featuring seventeen different camera angles, the machine documents Act III of Wagner’s Die Walküre and allows viewers to create their own interactive experience of the performance.

The feed can be watched with all cameras running simultaneously or broken down into single camera view or director’s cut. There’s also a choice of three audio soundtracks featuring music, backstage audio or commentary. Additionally, the prompt book has been made available to view in the same pane as the selected view, highlighting each of the actions read out by the Deputy Stage Manager.
