The Clyde is Red promenade theatre, Tam Dean Burn
Guerrilla Gardening, Seed Bombing on the Clyde. Kabloom.
I started the day with a Radius event The Clyde is Red a promenade theatre by Tam Dean Burn. Celebrating May Day, the Scottish participation in the Spanish civil war and the fight against fascism. Burn is an actor and has been researching ascottish historical character called Allan Pinkerton. The first private detective who developed several investigative techniques that are still used today.
The tour started at the Mosque along the Clyde where Pinkerton was rumoured to have been born under…
The tour proceeded across the Clyde with songs, facts and interesting history about the Clyde and activities on the river, we ended the afternoon at the site of the statue La Passionara which pays tribute to the people from all over the world, many of them Glaswegians, who fought in the Spanish Civil War. The statue faces South across the River Clyde from the Broomielaw at Clyde Street.) La Passionara statue (that has been removed for restoration,) has never been properly commemorated.
There were rumblings of a celebration and proper ceremony for the return of the Passionara statue. I’ll be working on this….
The second Radius event was Guerrilla Gardening by Kabloom. A great turn out to clean up and plant things in a neglected site along the Clyde Walkway.
Kids and adults picked up trash, mixed compost with the soil and planted flowers and seeds to brighten the area up. SEEDBOM is a new and exciting product designed and made by Darren Wilson, a design graduate from Grays School of Art in Aberdeen. Darren runs a small business based in the southside of Glasgow called Kabloom and is currently stocking a selection of retailers across Glasgow and Edinburgh with this innovative and unique product.

A great day that ended at Le Drapeau Noir with two great performances,
“The Rule of Thumb”, and Bill Wells (piano) and Aby Vulliamy (viola). There were also other performers and strange happenings that carried the crowd drinking and laughing into the late night. I will really miss this wonderful wound up wine down venue. Well done and Thank you to Raydale Dowers, Rob Churm, Tony Swain, all the artists, performers and staff at Stereo that made it wonderful.
Fans enjoying the ambiance….cheers! ®
